Animation Workshop

The camera works! -KULPS workshop for 3rd–6th graders, 90 min

The animation workshop introduces the different stages of filmmaking: creating a script, setting up the filming environment, and shaping and creating the characters in the story. We use modeling clay and recycled materials as materials - the only limit is your imagination. The workshop teaches you how to use mobile devices in a variety of ways: filming stop motion animations and recording audio. Participants can use the school's iPads or their own phones. The SlowMotion app can be installed on them. You can take the materials you have made with you.

Before the workshop:
You can already think about the topic of the animation at school. Go through what the script means. What characters do you want in your animation? Download SlowMotion from the AppStore to your phones or iPads.

After the workshop:
For example, a class can organize a film gala where films are watched together.

OPS topics and objectives:

  • Images of your own life, e.g. cartoons, illustrations, advertisements or videos, digitality

  • Recycled materials, natural materials

  • Art from the local environment or themes to be discussed, visual observation, working based on observation, producing an image, motor skills

  • The workshop encourages students to engage in long-term visual work, both alone and together with others.
