Stop the madness!
KULPS workshop for 7th–9th graders, 90 min
What the heck is contemporary art? Can art take a stand? What is the message of art? What is today's art?
In the Stop the Madness workshop, students choose a madness and take a stand on it with a work of art. The work is designed individually, in pairs or as a group, and can be a poster or a work of art. The work can be done by drawing, painting or using collage techniques.
Before the workshop:
Consider the possibilities of taking a stand. How do they affect everyday life? When and how have you taken a stand? Students can write a short essay about taking a stand from their own perspective. It is good for students to have an idea for their own stand so that the process starts even before the workshop.
After the workshop:
How did your own view and stance come to the fore in your own or a group's work? What was it intended to influence? What did you learn?
The works can be hung on the school wall.
